Income assistance, family support and referrals to community and provincial resources.

Social Development administers income assistance for members on reserve, along with family support and referrals to other community and provincial services.

Assistance is a last resort program: applicants need to have no other federal or provincial income available to them. Staff work with each client on the barriers keeping them out of work.

Applying

  1. Contact Social Development through the band office at 306-423-5900.
  2. Be ready to show other income has been explored. Assistance is available where no other federal or provincial income applies.
  3. Expect a case plan. Assessment usually includes a conversation about barriers to employment and what support would help.
  4. If you are 18 to 30, ask about pre-employment programming at the same time.
