Reserve land managed under the Nation’s own Land Code rather than the land provisions of the Indian Act.
One Arrow manages its reserve lands under its own Land Code rather than the land provisions of the Indian Act. That means decisions about how land is used, who holds interests in it, and how it is protected are made by the Nation.
The Nation is an operational signatory to the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management, and has adopted both a Land Code and a Land Use Plan.
What the department does
Land use approvals
Every use of reserve land goes through the Lands department for approval.
- Approves all land use on reserve
- Issues interests and licences in Nation lands
- Reviews proposals against the Land Use Plan
Land Code administration
The Land Code is the Nation’s own law governing its lands, replacing the Indian Act land regime.

Balancing development with protection of the land, water and habitat.

Treaty Land Entitlement
TLE is the process for converting land to reserve status where treaty land obligations were not fully met.
